Announcing a Milestone Reached, and a Short Break!

This week I’ve reached a milestone in my blog posts—175! With only one post per week, it has taken me over three years to get here, longer by many bloggers’ standards! I’ve enjoyed writing every post, but above all, I’ve enjoyed the gateway this blog has given me into the international blogging community.

I realize though, that I need to take a step back, take a fresh look at my blog, and make a few changes. So I’m taking some time out—at least three weeks.  Since I intend to include a short trip out-of-town, it may be a bit longer.

Meanwhile, I’ll stay connected. I’ll be reading all of the blogs on my list, and commenting, as always.

I’ll be back sometime in October, with renewed energy, a new look, and some new ideas!

Enjoy this fall season, everyone, and I will see you in a few weeks!

    1. Hopefully my mind won’t go into complete shutdown mode (just kidding)! Thanks, Pat. See you when I return!

    1. Great work on all fronts. I can see why blogs need refreshing, because we ourselves change and so does the world. Enjoy your holiday! PS Relevant at this moment: I’m not sure why I have to enter my name and other details every time I comment on your blog. If that can be changed, it would encourage me to express my thoughts as I read your excellent articles.

      1. Thanks Rachel. I will be consulting with my tecchi over my break. I’ve heard from two other readers that they need to do the same thing. Also, I find that I have to fill in those details when I comment on two or three other blogs (not yours). So there is something amiss that needs to be investigated.

As I am a late comer to this wonderful site I m hardly ready to celebrate this milestone. But I certainly do support your success and time away. Thank you for your service to our community and especially for the promise to return!

    1. I hope to do some updating of the blog—streamline a few things. Thanks for your encouragement, Kathy, and for your loyal reading!

    1. Wow, Lynda, good to see you here! Bob and I are taking a few days off to see some people, (and the boys) in Vancouver. So it will be interesting AND restful! Take care, you two!

  2. I am a late comer to this blog as well. Enjoy your rest & relaxation. Please please do come back. Self care is very important. I have enjoyed the three years of reading and it has supported me through some tuff times. Enjoy!

  3. That’s amazing 175 Blog Posts! A big hardy CONGRATS to you for your dedication and perseverance. I’m familiar with Blog writing and the time and effort it takes to produce a single blog. Personally, I have a blog that produced only 36 articles. It takes me 5 hours to research and publish a single blog. I also got to the point that it was getting too much for me to consistently come up with new ideas to post. One day like yourself I reached a crossroad and decided to take a sabbatical leave from posting new articles on my blog. Like they say time flys and it’s now been 3 full years since I posted my last active blog article. After much introspection I decided to focus on ‘micro-mini’ blogs which allows me to post comments at the beginning of articles on my Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts. Also, many times like I’m doing now I post comments at the end of these articles, and often I share them with my friends and the public. In the end, I don’t have the same pressures to write major blog articles with all those stressful timelines. And, it works for me. I hope that in your time off you find your true passion regarding what you really want to do in the future and always. God Bless!

    1. It sounds like your sabbatical paid off! I see you quite frequently on Twitter and Facebook, and hope you like posting there as much as I do. And yes, my blog takes many hours of research, and some seem to take a long time to write. But once I have the nugget of the idea, and pen the opening, I find the rest relatively easy!

  4. Enjoy your well-deserved break, Diane. I already look forward to your return. Although I have only been following you for a short time, your blog has quickly become a favourite!

  5. It’s always a good idea to take a break now and then to, as you say, renew your energy and come up with some new ideas. What you’ve done so far has been creative and interesting, and so a lot of us will be looking forward to what you come up with next!

    1. I appreciate your acknowledgement. With a stunning and informative blog to your credit, it means a lot to me! Thanks, Tom!

  6. Congrats and so glad you are doing what you need to do for you. Enjoy and I know this time off will help you be creative. Follow your bliss. Blessings to you and gratituxe for all your writing and all that is to come!

    1. I need the break for creative inspiration, as well. Thank you for your kind thoughts, Linda. See you in a few weeks!

  7. Congratulations, and have a great vacation! I hope you can figure out the problem with commenting because having to put in that information is a nuisance, and my blog is doing it too! Please let us know what you find out.

    1. Yes, Monk, that will be one of the first things I’ll look at when I begin work on this blog. And thanks for the alert (about having to fill in info), which you gave me several weeks ago! I’ll keep reading online when I return from my trip, and of course, I’ll continue commenting.

    1. Surely not more than you do—I envy your ability to pop all of those pictures into your blog, with seemingly no effort! Thanks, Derrick!

  8. Congratulations on the milestone. My best wishes that you continue to be prolific.

Good idea to take a break and go away on a vacation. Have a great time and blog about it on your return.

    1. Some people manage to keep blogging even when on vacation, but not me! I think that if I’m going to all of the trouble of preparing to get away from it all, then I should really get away from it all! Thanks, Rummuser, I intend to keep in touch by doing all of my usual reading and commenting—I never consider that work!

  9. It’s plain to see you put a good deal of time and thought into your blog posts – which of course makes them both a pleasure to read and thought provoking to boot.
Enjoy your break; I will be here when you return. I hope…
    Alphie

  10. Diane, you’ve been an inspiration to both of us. We applaud you and wish you a happy rest. Nurture yourself and take whatever time you need. Read you in a while..!

    1. Some of my ‘time off’ will be devoted to thinking about the blog, and considering some improvements. Thanks for this, Lynne!

    1. I will enjoy it, especially since we are promised beautiful fall weather! Thanks, tammy j, you always have great things to say!

    1. A big Thank You, to you, Joared, and also to Clive, Big John, and Virginia, for your best wishes and thoughtful comments! I’m enjoying my break. but am also aware that underneath all of this relaxation, my mind is busy thinking about my NEXT articles—it’s so good to have the time to just ruminate!

    1. Still the Lucky Few

Hey, Neil, thanks for your encouragement! I’m not resting, but I am in the process of updating my blog. And you know what they say, “A change is as good as a rest.” So I’m sure to come back refreshed!
